One of my favorite past-time is to search for things over the internet, something that would catch my interest. At most times, I watch movies online to, yes, pass time. For the recent months, I’ve been glued to my computer screen watching tutorials about exercise, dancing, and beauty tutorials, also learning about different products (that doesn’t really exist here in the Philippines, but is willing to take the risk of ordering online anyway), skin and hair tips.

Let me talk about my most favorite of them all, Michelle Phan.

She’s a 22 year old graphic artist and make-up artist, and she’s actually Vietnamese. She lives in USA and is currently a spokesperson for Loreal. She’s the very first make-up guru that I found online and liked her tutorials. Although I have to admit that she just freakinly have a flawless skin, almost perfect, she still makes putting on make-up seems easy and with no discrimination or whatever. So anyway, here’s the link to her videos and I hope that you enjoy watching her like I did.

They say that music is food for the soul, and I agree. There are times when I feel so down and out and my picker upper is music and food! To most, music is the way they express their personality, or feelings and emotions or their moods, that’s why this form of hobby is most helpful to those who have history of depression, because they can convey what they cannot say or express in regular conversations. I remember when I was pregnant with my youngest child, we have a mini tape player and I’d put on soothing music and let her hear it inside my tummy, of course the player is just next to my belly. This is a great tool to teach children their first alphabet because the beat makes it easier for them to remember each word of the alphabet or nursery rhymes. Research shows that a baby who listens to music has an increase in learning capability compared to those who have not. Nowadays, you won’t need to get a little player for your toddler to listen to Old MacDonald because you can always look for MP3 Search online, and voila! Your baby will start learning to understand the alphabets because you can put the song in repetition. This is another good idea in nurturing children, because listening will foster creativity and imagination.

If you own a savings account and you want to take advantage of your bank’s services, and earn more for your money, a good way of investing is to ask your bank for a certificate of deposit or most popularly known as time deposit. How does this work? Usually, your money is stored in the bank for a specific fixed term, say three to six months, and you can’t touch your money while “in gestation” period, at this time, your money will earn you a certain amount or percentage of how much you put in time deposit. Usually you will get higher interest rates than the regular savings and you can have the option of rolling it over again for another fixed term if you want to earn more for your money, of course the longer the term, the higher amount you get. The only concern you will have now is finding the best cd rates, so it’s best to shop around banks. This is the safest way of investing your hard earned money because this is insured and virtually risk-free. A lot of businesses and businessmen engage in this kind of investment because this is another way of making your money work for you earn while you sleep.

I found that that a good way of keeping track and accomplishing the day’s objectives, is to list down the task, the time, place and status or completion, and helps eliminate too much undue stress. Organizing oneself is vital in achieving our goals, especially if you’re like me who like to list down mini goals or things that we want accomplished in a day, week, and month or this whole year, a perfect companion for organizing your priorities is jotting things down on pocket calendars. I know that lists may seem overwhelming to most, but once you’ve written down everything, you are also zeroing in on the most important task that you need to do, for example; you may have a couple of set appointments for this week, it may be for school, work or if you’re a homemaker, listing down the most important assignment or task that would need immediate action will help you in putting order by organizing them from the lowest to the highest importance. Get yourself a pocket calendar, a reliable pen and start listing down what you need to do first thing in the morning or the most important project that needs to be finished at the end of the day or in the middle of your shift. As you go along, cross out the ones that you’ve finished doing and before you know it, you’re accomplishing task without exerting too much effort or getting too stressed out. To those who think that life is too overwhelming and complicated, a single list will do you wonders and enable you to finish and keep up a lot of things.

As a parent we always want what’s best for our children, and as a mother myself I try to do everything that I could to make them feel secure and comfortable in life. But food, clothing and education is not the only things that they need; they also need emotional care. The very simplest and economical form of bringing them up is always words of encouragement. This is what I learned from the article Three Things Parents Should Tell Children Every Day; the write up tells how important it is that we mould their characters with positive motivations. For example, when a child makes a mistake, it is always easy to criticize them, and make them feel insignificant. This of course only cultivates anger because of embarrassment towards them. Voicing out our appreciation when they do something good or when they behave well is a good way of fostering positive outlook to our children. Another article that I found very helpful to me is the article How to cope up with stress as a parent. Of course we all know the cliché Parenting is not a walk in the park, and it’s really not easy to cope with all the responsibilities that we need to handle, and we always need to be creative to get around this, find something that we too can benefit, like, yes taking a simple walk in the park with our active children. Parenting is always a heavy job, there’s no short-cut, there’s no other work-around, it’s always straightforward, we just have to find ways to find peace in it while we’re doing it.

They say that prevention is better than cure; which still holds true to this day, but what if you’ve been neglecting your health for a long time and you’re already seeing or feeling the symptom? At this point, you will know that something inside you already gave, and the best way to solve this dilemma is for you to learn how to cure ailments! Even if you’re not at the “ageing” point, we still need to educate ourselves from what is the best cure for every symptom, since there must be more than hundreds of them out there. Of course, you don’t necessarily need to panic and run around seeking for medical advice, because you can always find practical and logical solutions over the internet, about the facts and causes. Learn about the best way of taking care of yourself rather than limiting yourself to the knowledge that “you always have to spend” when in fact, you might just need a little instruction on how to get a good relaxation.

Worry and stress is usually the cause of most ailments, and people who’s been having a hard time keeping up with this fast-paced world, are going through some sort of depression, when this happens, it’s best to talk to your family to get help. Consult with The Amen Clinics Dr Daniel G Amen if you’re suffering from depression and related mental problems.

For most of us, STD or sexually transmitted disease is a topic that we usually don’t like to discuss. Probably out of embarrassment or some just don’t know how to deal with this topic due to its sensitive nature. However, we (and as parents) also need to be educated and aware of what STD is about and how we can help prevent this from happening to our loved ones. Of course, we often hear the term “abstinence” but with the growing statistic in teenagers nowadays who are curious about their physical changes and those who also explore by experimenting on unsafe sex, STD testing clinic is a good place to go to when looking for information and answers on how this can be cured. This clinic has qualified doctors and state of the art technology in STD testing, and you can also request anonymity. It’s easier now to get tested because you can make a request online and they are the ones who’s going to process it for you, it saves you time, money and the embarrassment of being in-line just to get tested.

Winning someone should not be hard, you only have to develop a quality of being a warm person, be easily approachable. Often times, when we’re in a crowd, we feel a certain insecurity and we put up a wall. To cultivate a pleasing personality, you simply have to be winsome, it is not always the physical charm, grace or poise, it’s what you exude when you’re next to someone.

It is not always wrong to smile and speak up when approached, be happy to be of service. Be a pleasant conversant, if you’re too negative or you seem to don’t find anything great with just about anything, and you always complain, chances are, people will be with you, but they don’t wanna be around you, especially if they don’t have a choice if they work or study with you.

It is always alright to tell a thing or two, when one’s emotion is aroused, however, think about if the other will share this pleasure, because chances are, the only response you will get is displeasure. Unloading one’s feeling is fine, as long as it is told to a person who fully knows and understand you. Belligerent tones and hostile attitudes, will never win you friends, sometimes, this becomes the begging of an end.

People will only find time to agree with you, if you can unload in a more constructive way.

It may seem hard, especially with the sudden surge of emotion, that is why I learned to stay away from trouble, and to stay away from hot tempered people. It’s like an epidemic, or a fire that spreads too quickly.

We would often hear, be yourself. Being yourself is accepting the fact that you are a person who also lacks in some areas of your life. Don’t pretend. And even if you have all the material things in life, this should not always be the highlight of your day.

The world is already hurting, be the gentle spirit and become a friend.

Being yourself does not give you the right to show spite in everything, being yourself is about acknowledging your existence first, and then the others. You cannot love another if you don’t love yourself, start with yourself first, not in a Narcissistic way of course.

Be modest, and simple. Modesty is not just a stance of giving way, for example. It’s the way you deal with others with their shortcomings, you do not brandise on their lack compared to yours.

Study yourself, but not too much. Think about the things that made another unhappy with you, then gradually change them, change is the only constant in this world, but drastic change will only bring frustration, unless you experienced an earthquake in your insides and things got rattled up!

Be genuinely concerned, and the very basic rule of remembering one’s name. This is waterloo, I no longer posses a good memory that’s why I have a lot of lists.

When you are with someone, be a listener instead of a talker so you will understand where this person is coming from.

They say that our hair is our crowning glory; others say a grey hair indicates wisdom. I was told that our hair is also an indicator if our body is still in good health, excessive hair falls could also be a sign that you lack a certain vitamin. You will also find a lot of hair treatment formulas out in the market today, however excessive use can also lead to hair damage. It’s also best if we know how to treat our hairs right, a regular haircut can protect your hair from developing split ends, if you like wearing hair ornaments, it’s advisable to use barettes to gather your hair because it clips your hair than bind it too tightly for example by the use of a rubber band, and you only need to gently press the snap and will not cause any hair tear or breakage. If you’d look at it, taking care of your hair shouldn’t be too complicated, because your answer to proper hair care might just be lying on your dresser! I have a long black hair, and this is how I know.
