They say that music is food for the soul, and I agree. There are times when I feel so down and out and my picker upper is music and food! To most, music is the way they express their personality, or feelings and emotions or their moods, that’s why this form of hobby is most helpful to those who have history of depression, because they can convey what they cannot say or express in regular conversations. I remember when I was pregnant with my youngest child, we have a mini tape player and I’d put on soothing music and let her hear it inside my tummy, of course the player is just next to my belly. This is a great tool to teach children their first alphabet because the beat makes it easier for them to remember each word of the alphabet or nursery rhymes. Research shows that a baby who listens to music has an increase in learning capability compared to those who have not. Nowadays, you won’t need to get a little player for your toddler to listen to Old MacDonald because you can always look for MP3 Search online, and voila! Your baby will start learning to understand the alphabets because you can put the song in repetition. This is another good idea in nurturing children, because listening will foster creativity and imagination.

I have been planning of relocating to another place that’s near my children’s school, and there are a lot of reasons that I’m considering before I do this because I don’t want to find myself stuck in a place that I’m going to regret in a couple of weeks. So, lately I have been searching for resources that would help me decide on what to do and look for that includes transportation routes, the vicinity if it’s going to give me a hard time with finding the easiest way to travel, cost of living in that area and the environment that would be the biggest factor in my settlement. Because I teach English to Koreans at home, and sometimes take in Virtual Assistant projects, I need a quiet place to run my business. Another concern is also the access to certain services like how near is the market, postcard mailing services, hospitals for when we have emergencies, and the most important of all -the ATM machines! Generally speaking, the environment and the type of services has the biggest effect in your family life and living, because as a rule the most basic things you need should be accessible and most of the time too. But of course, the first step that I’m going to take is to look for a place near the school.

As a parent we always want what’s best for our children, and as a mother myself I try to do everything that I could to make them feel secure and comfortable in life. But food, clothing and education is not the only things that they need; they also need emotional care. The very simplest and economical form of bringing them up is always words of encouragement. This is what I learned from the article Three Things Parents Should Tell Children Every Day; the write up tells how important it is that we mould their characters with positive motivations. For example, when a child makes a mistake, it is always easy to criticize them, and make them feel insignificant. This of course only cultivates anger because of embarrassment towards them. Voicing out our appreciation when they do something good or when they behave well is a good way of fostering positive outlook to our children. Another article that I found very helpful to me is the article How to cope up with stress as a parent. Of course we all know the cliché Parenting is not a walk in the park, and it’s really not easy to cope with all the responsibilities that we need to handle, and we always need to be creative to get around this, find something that we too can benefit, like, yes taking a simple walk in the park with our active children. Parenting is always a heavy job, there’s no short-cut, there’s no other work-around, it’s always straightforward, we just have to find ways to find peace in it while we’re doing it.

Look at my munchkins, you think they’re sleeping? No, they’re not just sleeping, they’re tired!

Earlier we went to the mall so they can play at the arcades, and they had fun for full two hours only and see what they look like now! Like I posted earlier, we didn’t go out for the Christmas because I dislike having to squeeze in with the people outside the street running after rides. So, they played video games and run around like crazy. We finally ate dinner at 6PM and had a full meal which is really good. So when we came home, they played some more and then went to bed.

I just transferred Just Riza dot Net to a different host. I have a subscription with Freehostia and I just felt like I wanted to use it. Primary cause of this not-so-wise decision is because I’m not getting emails from Nolimits Host -which is not their problem anyway and actually, because I neglected the fact that Smartbroken (which I am still continuing to use as my ISP) is my ISP and I should be inputting them in my outgoing!! How stupid can I be? So now, I’m configuring everything in my Portable Mozilla Thunderbird, yep, you read right, I’m using my USB as a storage for all my emails. So, anywho, I’ve blogged about how to configure your Outlook Express with Smartbro using your domain in that blog of mine.

I am worried sick about my rent! I was caught off-guard. This is not my first time to rent in an apartment, however, I can’t find any reason for my comparing my rent receipts with the former places that I lived because this is now a different place, and different landlord.

As a result, most of my time was spent on the computer looking for opportunities to write or bid. Just imagine the stress that I’ve accumulated overtime with just checking my emails from time to time, even while I was at School teaching. I’d wake up in the morning and immediately running to my computer just to check any opps from my bids, but there was none for now. No task assigned to me at all. Sometimes, when I talk to people, they think that I’m living an easy life, however, they just see the fruit of my labor but don’t see the behind-the-scenes of it. How I worry, how I react to my children’s behaviours when I’m worried, etc. Speaking of which, I am still waiting for my cheque payment from one of the people that I wrote 12 articles from which will help a bit, it’s for PHP419.31, I got two words: Christmas Rush!

Many people may not realize the kind of pressure that’s placed on the shoulders of a stay at home moms, especially single mothers. When bills start to come in, there’s a lot of pressure like its too much to handle. Most of the time, I really don’t know where to start. Like right now, when I came here. But any ways, here’s what I’m going to do, list all my bills, cross the ones that’s been paid and prepare for the next. Once I’ve crossed out all these bills, there should be extra for us come January. I’m sure of it.

Meanwhile, I have found a new website that speaks about surviving motherhood, it’s Busy Mommy Media by Busy Mommy. I find it entertaining, educational and really helpful. I read most of the articles that really hit home. I especially identified with Home schooling, because for a while, my children were out-of-school youths, because of their behaviours, not the problematic child type, but simply interrupted due to the stress of coming from a broken home. At the time, I’m also a working mom. And in here, was a topic written on how to sort out your day when home schooling your child. You may think that only those primary students or special children takes these types of lesson, but a mom actually does this even when the child is still small. We teach them the alphabet, shapes and primary color types. I would recommend that new moms read the article because it will give you an idea on how to teach your child proper scheduling, you’d be surprised how it helps you too in managing your busy time.

As much as possible, I also try to take care of myself, and many people don’t know that I own quality make-ups, not branded but quality, it’s for the mere reason that my skin is sensitive to additives, and by reading, I found out that Aluminum Lake dyes can cause break-outs, probably it, so it’s a lesson learned. So, after all this money problems, I’m listing down mineral make-ups for my personal grooming kit for when I go to school and teach. Make-up can make people presentable.

Interesting how a one site would have every information a stay at home mom needs, I also found her concepts inspiring.

Soo…back to my drawing board, l need to bid for more opps!

After I was separated to my children’s father, and the responsibilities was left all on my shoulders, life hasn’t been easy but never impossible. My children are the ones who gave me the drive to live life and to give ourselves a chance to enjoy what God has allotted for us. I was a full time mom, and has been a working mom for quite a brief moment in their young life and continued to be the mother they are wanting me to be. I’ve taught them to express themselves and to be open, it has been embedded deep within their soul that it comes out naturally to them to say what they think and feel. I took care of my children since they were infants and until now, I can say that despite the hardship of trying to understand two different individuals under one roof, at the end of the day, they are the life that I live and the will to move on and succeed in this life.
