I’m not sure if people will laugh at me if they read this; do you remember the Filipina singer Viktoria? Yeah, I do admire her; just that I don’t know what happened to her the past years. The last that I heard was her song To Be near You, being included in the TV series Felicity soundtrack CD. At one point, I think she admired the character of Joey in Dawson’s Creek. As a backgrounder, Victoria’s real name is Teresita Victoria Elizaga Agbayani, born on October 26, 1970 to a political clan of the Agbayani of Pangasinan.

Viktoria was also the first Filipino to launch a music video in the MTV channel that if my archeological membranes remembers correctly; were collaborated and created by one of her brother’s. She started singing at the age of 17 and between shows and gigs; she was able to manage to finish Mass Communications at the University of the Philippines. She was also tagged as the MTV Queen, which she is rightfully entitled because she’s like the fish that swam upstream or against the stream so to speak.

And yes she is one of my favourite singer too.

Music and relaxation

I’m just tired today, I’ve done a couple of posts in just one day to keep up and I guess that’s just enough for me. My hosting business needs a badge and that’s next on my list too, for now I’m looking forward to some relaxation. Right now I’m just finishing up on some task and then I will head off to bed, armed with my dependable Belle de Jour planner, I’m going to sketch out some short-term goals and listen to music that I downloaded from streaming music torrents. I’d usually look for easy listening songs that can lull me to sleep and get that much needed shut-eye. Since going to college, although I haven’t been through any gruelling experience yet, there’s a lot of ideas flowing in my mind, and my class, professors and new-found friends have inspired me to do a whole new me make-over. From my attitude towards where my life is headed, to my style staples. My classmates have been encouraging me to trim my hair a little bit to give it body; I guess that will come next week. For now, I am off to dreamland!

An early valentines gift, et al.

I won H-y-p-e-n’s Valentine’s day Raffle, my prize is an 8 Amazingly Graceful – Soy Heart Tarts – By Scented Luxuries that’s to be sent to my home address, can’t wait to get them!

When I visited the sponsor’s website I found that it’s a $6.00 USD value! The description says this:

I’m just about done creating the “Soundtrack of my Life” as suggested in my Belle de Jour planner, and I must say that it was really enjoying! I indulged my time listening to encouraging songs. Here are just a few on my list:

I love this line from Tim McGraw’s Live Like You Were Dying: “And I gave forgiveness I’d been denying.” I think forgiveness, given despite the treatment of indignation, is a more effective cure to any cancer ailment!

African musical instruments

Yesterday, I mentioned in my other blog* about my love for music and a wee bit of my background. Now, let me talk a little bit about african instruments, if you’ve watched movies like Lion King, you must have heard a lot of drums and percussions in their music, this is because it’s also one of African tradition to gather round to play and dance at night infront of a bonfire, with djembe drums (percussion-like drums) and unique singing. Let me just give you an example with the music below:

Tuesday Couch Potatoes : Musical Movies, The Carousel

This is my first Tuesday Couch Potatoes for Cotton Candy Buzz.

Most of you might not remember or even have the slightest idea about this classic musical, but this is one of the many fave of mine.

This is a tragic love story, now what draws me to this sad love story is the harsh reality of life and falling in love.

The characters Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan falls in love, however the scarcity of opportunity for Billy drove him to do something foolish that led him to trouble and eventually his death. Julie was left to take care of their daughter, Louise. Fifteen years later, Billy returns to find his daughter emotionally scarred, but with his eagerness to try and make amends, he assured them his love and to be strong.

We fall in love, we try to make things right, sometimes our effort are rewarded and most are thwarted, but in life, the only time that the rubber meets the road is the strenght we keep to move forward.

I know, cheezy, but hey, it’s a classic! ^^
