Have you ever gone past a clothing store and saw something like this?

This is what they call Jeggings, it’s a combination of jeans and leggings. Confused? Jeggings are made out of stretch jean material, or a legging with stretch fabric which is pattered to look like jeans, kind of mimic jeans with its finer mesh material. The difference of course is that this doesn’t use zippers, but it has a waistband instead. This type of clothing is great and comfortable to wear because of its stretch and light material, and depending on your taste, you can opt to buy a more natural looking style and pair it off with a more broad and longer top, that you can also pair off with a vest and high or ankle boots for cooler weathers. This can also look great with sneakers, for those who work out and would like to wear something comfortable and stylish at the same time while working out, and an inch heel sandal for tropical weathers like the Philippines. You just have to remember though that since a Jeggings hug your leg and thighs, there will always be a possibility of fashion blunder because wearing a little bit short shirt would reveal everything, especially those who aren’t used to wearing thongs, panty lines will be visible, or if you are on the heavy side, bulging tummies will be chunked in, so be mindful of what you pair it with.

Why am I blogging this? Well, I know she’d forgive me for doing so

In my previous post Alice in Wonderland to visit the Red Queen, I never got to talk about the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows by Urban Decay since I wasn’t aware of its existence until recently *sorry*. So now, let me feature fashion trends inspired by the 2010 movie, the products are from an online store Claire’s, they showcase collections of hats, totes, mittens, pendants, shirts, and many more pieces that’s inspired by the characters in the movie.

In the first and original story of the book, Alice was roaming through the maze and found the Red queen’s soldiers painting the roses red.

Red Queen inspired.
Red is my fave color and this concept really appealed to me, although it has a very intimidating impression to it, you can’t deny that it’s a classic.

This is a more girly version of the twins, Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

The White Rabbit in a hurry, a more contemporary version. I really liked the
concept of the more personal touch to the Rabbit’s role in this story, echoed in the style of this clothing.

I liked this ensemble, simply because the Mad Hatter has been given an important role in the movie, also I was almost led to believe that something is brewing between Alice and the Mad Hatter, which is weird, in the sense that in the book, he’s a mad man. I like the purple eyes.

If the movie impressed you with it’s modern adaptation of the book Alice and Wonderland, I’m sure you’re also gonna love these fashion dish.

Okay, so a lot of us must have been soaked with sweat this summer season, but let us not forget that we live in a tropical country and rainy season is fast approaching, I even heard from a neighbour that the Philippines is going to have La Niña this year! To those who don’t like being soaked with rain, especially going to school or work, here’s a stylish way we can get away amidst the rains and the winds!

1. Stylish eco-friendly shopping bag.
As a mother, it has been a habit of mine to carry at least one plastic bag in my purse, this is because there will be times when I need to drop by a store and buy food or something for the house or my kids, I learned that it is more practical to bring with me a nice foldable, reusable carry all shopping bag. These are types of bag that are made of durable and water-resistant materials. Most of these you can buy at a local shopping stall or night flea market for a cheap price. I got mine from Watsons as a freebie, and this is where I learned about it’s practicality.

2. Stylish durable plastic sandals.
We all know that when it rains, it pours, so better prepared than sorry. I know this from experience, I was wearing my black shoes to work yes, and it got soaked in the rain. Imagine the discomfort of wearing wet shoes for whole 9 hours! So better prepare and get a nice, decent looking durable plastic sandal, the type that doesn’t easily get weathered that can take you anywhere without breaking easily.

3. Suit up.
I agree, a durable and reliable umbrella can sometimes get pricey and then a strong wind blows, guess what, your Php600 umbrella just turned inside-out! If you can, and I found it better to wear a rain coat, to protect yourself from the rain. The advantage I get from these is that your head is also protected because of the hood, and the cold drafts of the wind, something that an umbrella cannot really protect you from.

4. Feeling sexy.
At this point, you might want to wear more fitted clothing, or something that would hug your body because, again, from experience, it’s really hard to manage when there’s strong wind blowing your clothing, plus hang-y clothes flap around and catch rain. And it’s not really funny spending another 8 hours trying to dry you out inside the office.

Well, I think you have the idea ^___^x

So, anyway, my tips or suggestion may not be a good one, but I hope that I still get an idea, for now, I need to sort out and fix my closet. Adieu!

Sneakers
Sneakers are comfortable to wear, plus I’m a jeans and t-shirt girl, I try to get away with blouses that I can wear on jeans too. But most of my clothing consists of collared shirts and Jeans. My brand would be Natasha and Advan.

Doll Shoes
I have a Doll Shoes flats, because I need something to wear for formal occassions and employment. Brand: Natasha & Parisian Junior

1-inch Heels
For a more formal occassion, and to look more sophisticated. Hehe! Brand: Natasha & Parisian Junior

They say that our hair is our crowning glory; others say a grey hair indicates wisdom. I was told that our hair is also an indicator if our body is still in good health, excessive hair falls could also be a sign that you lack a certain vitamin. You will also find a lot of hair treatment formulas out in the market today, however excessive use can also lead to hair damage. It’s also best if we know how to treat our hairs right, a regular haircut can protect your hair from developing split ends, if you like wearing hair ornaments, it’s advisable to use barettes to gather your hair because it clips your hair than bind it too tightly for example by the use of a rubber band, and you only need to gently press the snap and will not cause any hair tear or breakage. If you’d look at it, taking care of your hair shouldn’t be too complicated, because your answer to proper hair care might just be lying on your dresser! I have a long black hair, and this is how I know.

I was watching Planet 51 and it very much reminded me of the 1950′s era, because the cartoon film was set to live in a similar society. I can’t help but laugh at the Lollipop song by the Chordettes. When I was a little girl, my Aunts would play it on a turn table and sing the lyrics on a bright morning. How I miss the fresh air and bright ray of sunshine go through our freshly cleaned wide windows!

Anyway, the fifties left us a significant timelines, and it was tagged “The Golden Era” because of the many big things that happened back then:

-The credit card system was introduced in the United States of America.
-Mass production of computers began.
-It was the year that the first organ transplant took place.
-Pucci Fashion House was opened.

Along with Elvis Presley who also shared a good amount of fame in the 1950′s. This was also the time when Elvis Presley appeared in his first movie, Love Me Tender; remember the lei and the ukulele?

This was also the start of the mark of Marilyn Monroe in the movies, where she was introduced in these films; The Asphalt Jungle & All About Eve.

This was also the mark of the polka dot fashion! The 1950′s styles were hourglass shape, fitted body with small waistline and shoulder in full or thin skirts -paired in higher heels. Christina Aguilera wore (in her Back to Basics album) a pair of black higher heel shoes.

In those times, American Fashion was the fad for the Filipinos. There were too many GI movies, and this was when Gloria Romero, Nida Blanca and Nestor de Villa became a household name.

[Edited]Wikipedia says that U.S. colonial rule of the Philippines started in 1905. A colony is a country that has been inhabited and ruled by a stronger country, and this is where a representative is sent to make sure that changes are implemented. Like for example the colonization of Africa, they were forced to wear boots and layered clothing, why? This is because; the governing official is tasked to make sure that he makes this colonized country to be a near-copy or reflection of that Kingdom. Thus the change in lifestyle and education system. Imagine, Africa is a baren country, and they were forced to wear thick clothing. Go figure!

Colonialization is like changing of the mind, you are made to forget your own culture and adapt to theirs. You may say, wow! It’s already 21st century? Yes that is true, however, colonization is not constricted to invading a country. Nowadays we have MTV, Movies, Music and Fashion. And this is how the American Fashion dominated the Filipino taste in clothing, because at the time, we we’re being brainwashed into adapting to their culture. [/Edited]

I was at the market one time and I found a Korean bazaar store that sells cute Korean Wall Stickers, and bought me two, I excitedly went home and plastered them on my “dirty” wall. I found a couple more that looks a lot cheerful, colorful and urban at the same time, but since I have to be wise and pick the perfect place to stick them, I thought about my huge dresser mirror and my lonely bedroom wall.

Who doesn’t love Tokyo Street Fashion? Girls nowadays are bolder when it comes to venturing into different type of fashion. We can say that most don’t really have a clear fashion sense, in terms of genre and style. You don’t necessarily have to follow a certain celebrity just to get your own look, because with Japanese Fashion, you are encouraged to create your own. You can find them to be pretty, artistic and practical in a lot of sense, because everything you wear -you can find them in your closet, and most are economical if you need to buy additions.

Around the end of 2009, there’s a new fashion magazine that’s been released and circulated around Japan, the MIG magazine, it’s actually an acronym for Made In Girl. Free magazines is just common with them, I guess this probably one of the reasons why their artistic juices continues to flow, free ideas for all! MIG claims that their magazine is Made by girls for girls, makes sense, because only a girl would know and understand what another girl would want to wear and look like.

Here are some of the yummy features of the maiden issue of MIG.This first issue of MIG featured Ami & Aya, the cute twin fashion models and TV personalities in Japan.
